Foxit® delivers Shared Annotations and Form Data Collection in Foxit WebPDF for SharePoint 2.0

New Release Allows Multiple Users to Annotate PDF Files and Fill-in PDF Forms

FREMONT, Calif. - April 30, 2014- Foxit® Corporation, a leading provider of solutions for reading, editing, creating, organizing, and securing PDF documents, today announced the delivery of Foxit WebPDF for SharePoint 2.0. This new release provides support to annotate, collect form data, and print PDF files.

Foxit PDF Web Reader Plugin for SharePoint is a document library extension product for SharePoint allowing end users to view PDF files online, within a browser, without any PDF viewer application or browser plugin installed on the desktop. It provides PDF viewing features such as zoom, text selection, annotation, search, bookmark, print, and more to enhance the reading experience. SharePoint administrators can install and configure the product on the SharePoint server. They have access to central administration tools to configure the application and control features such as enable/disable watermarks, text selection, and more.

New features include:

  • Multi-user annotation – allows users to read, create, modify, and delete annotations for PDF files. To guard against multiple users annotating the same file at the same time, users will first check out the file. After checkout, they would be the only user who could create, modify, or delete annotations on that file.  After they save and check it back in, other can see their modifications or check the file out to annotate it themselves. This allows multiple users to safely annotate the same document, allowing for better collaboration. Supported annotations include highlight, typewriter, underline, note, and pencil. These annotations are saved as standard PDF objects, so users who download the file can read the annotations on any compliant PDF reader.

  • Data Collection Forms – form authors can upload a standard PDF form (Acroform) to a SharePoint server and then distribute a link to this form to multiple users.  These users can then fill out the form and the completed forms will be saved into a specified folder. To manage data collection, the form author can open the form for collection and later close the form for collection. This makes it easy for form authors to collect data from multiple users and have the completed forms all centrally located on a SharePoint server.

  • Print - Prints the PDF file using the web browser’s printing options. Supports custom page ranges.

  • Toolbar – new ribbon based toolbar makes learning and using the product quick and easy.

"It also provides a great mechanism to collect data using powerful PDF forms.  This product is the ideal PDF solution for SharePoint environments."
