Foxit Reassures Customers in PDF False Virus Snafu

Fremont, Calif. – Dec. 21, 2009 – Foxit Corporation, a leading provider of solutions for reading, creating, organizing and securing PDF documents, today reassured its customers that its award-winning PDF reader products are virus free, and also not vulnerable to malicious PDF attacks. Earlier this week, Foxit had been alerted to an erroneous warning message in the popular anti-virus program, AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 9.0. After extensive testing by AVG and Foxit, the problem was found to be a definitions error within the AVG software. AVG has issued a new version its antivirus software and is available at Foxit's engineering team confirmed that Foxit Reader and Foxit Phantom PDF Suite are not subject to the malicious PDF attacks plaguing Adobe's reader, as Foxit PDF products do not include the same JavaScript vulnerabilities found in Adobe's PDF Reader.
