User Can Interact with Protected PDF Files from Mobile Devices
FREMONT, Calif. - June 4, 2013 - Foxit® Corporation, a leading provider of solutions for reading, editing, creating, organizing, and securing PDF documents, today announced that Microsoft’s TechEd attendees can see an early preview of Foxit Mobile PDF’s integration with Microsoft Azure Active Directory Rights Management (AAD RM). Mobile PDF is Foxit’s solution for reading and annotating PDF files on leading mobile devices running iOS®, Android™, and Windows® RT. This new capability for Mobile PDF will be part of the Foxit PDF Security Suite solution, Foxit’s comprehensive solution for extending Microsoft’s Active Directory® Rights Management Services (AD RMS) for PDF. This pre-Beta release with AAD RM support allows users to read, change, and protect PDF documents from mobile devices using AAD RM.
End users are accessing files through email, network, and cloud services from both desktop and mobile platforms. Many of these files contain confidential information which needs to be protected. Therefore, Foxit has partnered with Microsoft to provide organizations with a complete AD RMS solution which provides end users a common user experience to work on protected PDF files from desktop and mobile platforms.
The AAD RM support will be available as a premium add-on to the free Foxit Mobile PDF products, which are currently available on the iOS®, Android™, and Windows® RT platforms. The official Beta program for the RMS premium add-ons will start later in June. General availability is expected later this year.
"Microsoft is renewing its investment in RMS through the Windows Azure Active Directory Rights Management service. This offer provides developer kits on 6 platforms: Windows, Windows RT, Windows Phone, iPhone/iPad, Android, and Mac," says Dan Plastina, Group Manager, Information Protection at Microsoft. "We're excited to see Foxit continue to innovate in the business PDF space by announcing a commitment to support RMS protected PDF on these widely used platforms. I'll be demonstrating the iPad version of Foxit Mobile PDF at my TechEd talks."
TechEd is Microsoft's premier event for IT professionals and enterprise developers, providing hands-on learning, deep product exploration, and countless opportunities to build relationships with a community of Microsoft experts and your peers.
"Foxit sees a big need from our customer base to read, annotate and protect PDF files from their mobile devices," says Jenny Li, VP of Product Management at Foxit. "By partnering with Microsoft, we will be able to provide customers with a consistent solution to manipulate AD RMS protected PDF files on users' desktops and mobile devices."
