When it comes to, password protection and document encryption have been around a long time. And they’re great for protecting your and then sending it to someone, or a group.
But what happens if you need to change recipients’ ability to view your document? Maybe you want to grant them more privileges. Or maybe you want to stop them from being able to view it altogether.
That’s where( ) comes in. With a cPDF document, it’s easier than ever to prevent prying eyes.
Change or revoke access—even after you’ve already sent your document
Even after you’ve sent a cPDF to someone else, or a whole group, you can change or even revoke users’ access privileges. Here’s how it can work.
Say you’re in contract negotiations with a potential client and you’ve sent them a contract in cPDF. Then they suddenly decide they’re not ready to do business. If you don’t want the details of your negotiations getting into anyone else’s hands, just revoke access privileges. Voila. Those changes go into effect within seconds, in real time, even if they have the document open. That’s powerful protection.
Then let’s say two weeks later, the same potential client comes to their senses and wants to start negotiations again. But when they try to open the contract, they can’t. They can send a request to you, the document owner, for permission and you can grant it remotely. Again, powerful capability, powerful protection.
What if they’re using a non-Foxit?
If someone tries to open the cPDF with a non-Foxit, they’ll see a screen notifying them that a Powered application—such as the free —is required. Then it’s just a quick and they’re on their way.
What if there’s no Wi-Fi?
It’s true that the standard cPDF security model requires an uninterrupted internet connection. So what happens if your boss needs to review that contract on a plane without Wi-Fi? Not a problem. You have the option to grant her the right to create an offline copy. And to keep security in place, you can set the offline rights to expire after a set number of days so that there’s no rogue unprotected version of your contract floating around.
As you can see, cPDF means you don’t just protect your documents when they’re in your hands. You can protect them after they leave your possession and even make permission changes on the fly. In our on-the-go connected world, it’s the right kind of protection for any document you’ve got.
