WAC Server

Remote Access Client

Remote Access Server (WAC Server)

Native Clients

WAC Server includes two native client programs that can be freely distributed:

  • WACTERM: a small and efficient telnet client with file transfer capability;
  • WACSSH: an SSH2 client, with secure file transfer and port forwarding support.

These two clients fully support all terminal features provided by WAC Server, they use internal terminal protocol to communicate with WAC Server therefore can't work with other servers.

There are several advantages to use WAC native clients:

  • Native clients provide full support to remote Windows console applications, like full screen color display, special character display, mouse operations, and full keyboard support (special keys and key combinations);
  • Native clients uses efficient terminal protocol so the communication volume between server and client can be reduced;
  • Native clients provide convenient file transfer capability. While you are connected to the server, you can transfer files between the client machine and server machine, without requiring any additional tool.
  • Native clients are text-based console application so you can run it remotely. This is very useful when you need to connect to another machine from the currently connected machine. (For example, from client C, you can connect to server S1, and from there you can run native client again to further connect to server S2 which can't be directly accessed from client machine.)

Foxit Software also supply the following more advanced client programs that provide much more features than the free native clients:

  • KoalaTerm: an advanced telnet client with powerful terminal emulation and scripting capability;
  • Secure KoalaTerm: an advanced SSH1/SSH2 client with powerful terminal emulation and scripting capability;
