Remote Access Server (WAC Server)

Client Side Printing

You'll likely want to print the results of applications on the server, but when you are running the applications remotely, you can't easily get to the server and fetch the printed papers.

WAC Server client side printing provides a perfect solution to this problem.

After you install WAC Server, a special print port called "WAC:" will appear in your available printer ports. You can use Windows printer manager to add a text-only printer to this port - or if your client supports direct printer output, you can a create printer type which matches the type of the printer on your client side (in order to generate graphic output).

The created printer can also be shared, allowing you to use the "net use" command to map the printer into a DOS print port like LPT1 or LPT2, for example:

net use lpt1: \\server\wac_printer

When you print to the mapped port by DOS applications, or directly print to the special printer by Windows applications, the printing job will be sent to the client program.

More than one user can use client side printing at the same time. WAC Server will automatically redirect the printing job to different client program according to the user who submitted the job.

To use client side printing, you can use WAC native clients (WACTERM or WACSSH), or many other terminal emulators supporting transparent printing (like KoalaTerm from Foxit Software, a perfect terminal emulation program).
