Overview

Foxit Reader ActiveX SDK is a visual programming component that offers PDF displaying capability with minimal resource demand and re-distribution size. It can be easily integrated into a wide range of applications.

Foxit Reader ActiveX SDK uses the same parsing and rendering engine as Foxit Reader. Therefore, it can display PDF files with the same high quality and fast speed as Foxit Reader. See the screen shot below.

Compared to the DLL version of Foxit SDK, the ActiveX version is much easier to use and has rich UI and programming features built inside it. Simply drag and drop the component into the application to instantly add PDF displaying functions to any application. The ActiveX allows users to navigate, zoom, rotate, scroll and print PDF documents.

As it is an SDK Active X, it will be used by programmers, and not end users.

Requirement

Foxit Reader SDK ActiveX runs on Windows 2000 through Windows Vista. It is a stand-alone component and does not require extra software. Administrator privileges may be required to register ActiveX in Windows.

Standard/Professional Version and Form Module

Foxit offers two different sub-versions of ActiveX 3.0. One is a standard version which doesn't include the following features: creating/editing annotation, form import/export, adding watermark, running javascript, convert PDF to text, etc. The other one is a professional version which includes these features. You can see the sub-versions comparison table for more details. You may choose the right version based on the requirement of your application.

The standard and professional version may be immediately purchased online. For the Form Module, please fill out an online survey form and submit it before the Foxit service staff can send you a quote soon.

There are several complete demo programs written in different programming languages, including Visual Basic, Visual C++, Delphi, C++ Builder, all of which show how to use the properties, methods and events of the ActiveX. They may be downloaded from here.

If extra features are needed in ActiveX 3.0, requests may be submitted to Foxit at sales@foxitsoftware.com. After the requirements are assessed, Foxit will reply with detailed results, including time frame and cost.

Foxit can assist with the translation of ActiveX for languages not currently offered.

Upgrade

To upgrade to Foxit ActiveX 3.0, please read the information below.

Foxit has minimized the change to the programming interface. Therefore, only slight modifications are required to the hosting program before re-compiling. To check for the detailed changes, please click here.
