PDFs (Portable Document Format) are designed to be cross-platform compatible and to preserve the look and feel of a document for posterity.

PDFs can be viewed on any device and will always look the same, making them ideal for long-term storage or for sharing with others.

However, PDFs are notoriously difficult to edit, and adding, moving, or deleting images can be a frustrating experience.

Thankfully, there are now several PDF editors available that make it easy to make changes to PDF files without losing quality or compromising compatibility.

With a PDF editor, you can quickly and easily add, move, or delete objects and images in your PDF document with just a few clicks.

Whether you need to make a small change or completely overhaul your document, a PDF editor is the tool you need to get the job done right.

Starting Out with Foxit

For example, you can use the “Highlight Text” tool to highlight passages of text for further discussion. You can also use the “Insert Comment” tool to insert notes or comments at specific locations in your PDF.

And of course, as a full-fledged PDF Editor, you can also add, remove, and move images around according to your needs.

How to Add an Image

A Guide to Modifying Images in a PDF

To add an image, do the following:

  • Select EDIT > Insert > Imageimage-tool .
  • Drag a rectangle on the page to define the canvas area for the image.
  • In the Add Image dialog box, click the Browse button to select the image that you want to insert and click the Open button. You’ll see the URL of this image has been added to the Location field.
  • Click the Advanced button to edit the settings of the image, if you choose.

Should you need to scale the image, you can choose when to do so by setting Foxit PDF Editor to always scale it to fit the rectangle you draw, only scale if it’s too big or small, or never to do so.

Click OK for your changes to take effect, or click Reset to reset the data to the original settings.

Click the Close button.

The image has now been inserted into your PDF document.

How to Move an Image

Moving an image to another location is straightforward. Simply do the following:

  • Select the Annotation Selection Tool annotation-selection-tool or the Image Tool image-tool and put the cursor over the image so that the handle appears.
  • Click and drag the image to wherever else you’d like it to appear instead.

If you want to move an image within a text box or other Annotation, you can also click and drag it inside that area.

Additionally, if you’d like your image to appear in front of everything else on the PDF page, select the image and go to Arrange > Bring To Front. If you want the reverse effect, go to Arrange > Send To Back.

You can also use the Eraser Tool to erase part of an image, making it transparent. Doing this is helpful if you need to fill in part of an image with text, for example.

Simply put the cursor over the image and click and drag to erase the desired portion. You can also adjust the size of the eraser

How to Resize an Image

If you need to resize an image, just do these steps:

  • Select the Annotation Selection Tool annotation-selection-tool or the Image Tool image-tool and put the cursor over the image so that the handle appears.
  • Place the cursor on any corner point, at which time it’ll show the direction at which the rectangle will be resized.
  • Drag the cursor outside and it will increase the size of the rectangle. Drag the cursor inside to decrease the size of the rectangle.
